REITs vs Stocks daily update – August 16, 2021
Today, REITs win over Stocks. Stocks declined today resulting in a day loss.
TLDR; What’s this all about? I invested $1000 in both REITs (Real Estate Investment Trust) and the Stock Market, and now it’s a challenge to seeing which one will perform better in the next 5 years. You can read the start here. Below is today’s daily update….
Stock Investment – Wealthfront
Today’s balance: $1,003.26 (Net returns to date: $3.26 increase)
Day change: $1.54 decrease since yesterday) – $1004.80
Historical info: Invested $1000 on August 2, 2021
REITs – Fundrise
Today’s balance: $1002.81 (Net returns to date: $2.81 gain)
Day change: $0.09 (Small growth) since yesterday ($1002.72)
Historical info: $1000 on July 27, 2021 (initial investment)
9 cent growth in REITS vs $1.54 loss in stocks from 1000 investment each. Stocks still have are above my REITs growth, even with the large decline, but it was a much larger loss than I’ve seen in the last few weeks. Looking closer to the individual ETFs that Wealthfront spreads my 1000 investment into, I can see that even though US stocks and Dividend growth stocks increased, Emerging stocks decreased
